WASHINGTON - The Georgetown women's golf program finished its second competition of the fall season in 10th place at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. Georgetown closed the 14 team competition with its best score, carding a third round total of 316. The Hoyas ended the Invitational with a 983, two strokes off ninth place Akron.
It was a tie at the top in Ann Arbor as host Michigan and Florida International each posted 930 on the scoreboard. Third place was also a tie with Xavier, Illinois and Eastern Michigan all carding a 933.Toledo, North Texas and Grand Valley State finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.
The three top individual finishers for Georgetown all bettered their scores each round. The best finish for Georgetown was recorded by freshman Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch). Lee entered the final day tied for 35th place and shot a 78 in her final round which propelled her to a tie at 29th. Her three round total was 242 (83-81-78), 29 over par.
Alice Choi (Whitestone, N.Y./Bayside) had the low round of the tournament for Georgetown shooting a 77 in her final round. Choi placed in a tie for 38th with a 244 (85-82-77). Viktoria Lager (Princeton, N.J./West Florida Christian School) was the third highest finisher for Georgetown, tying for 46th with a 247 (85-82-80).
Next for Georgetown will be the Nittany Lion Invitational hosted by Penn State University in State College, Pa. The Invitational will start Friday, September 28 with the final round held Sunday, September 30.
