The Georgetown University women’s golf team finished in third place among 16 teams at the Boston College Intercollegiate, played at Blue Hill Country Club.
The Hoyas finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a score of 39-over par 903. The Blue & Gray was in second place after the first day of play, but shot a final round 19-over par 307 to fall one place in the standings.
Richmond led from start to finish and topped the field with a score of 23-over par 887, besting host Boston College by 11 shots (34-over par 898). Georgetown was third, with Brown fourth (48-over par 912) and Elon rounded out the top five teams (52-over par 916).
Senior Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) was Georgetown’s top finisher, carding a 7-over par 223 to finish in fifth place. She shot a 2-over par 74 in the final round.
Junior Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew’s) was one shot back, tying for sixth place at 8-over par 224, with a 4-over par 76 on Monday.
Sophomore Ashley Fitzgibbons (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake Senior) shot a 9-over par 81 in the final round and tied for 30th place at 16-over par 232 and junior Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) finished in a tie for 38th place at 19-over par 235
Junior Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Episcopal [Va.]) posted a 6-over par 78 on Monday and tied for 44th place at 21-over par 237.
Georgetown is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 30, competing in the Princeton Invitational.
