WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team opens the 2013 spring season on Monday, Feb. 4, competing in the Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami at the Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club in Coral Gables, Fla.
The two-day tournament will be held Mon., Feb. 4 and Tues., Feb. 5 at the par-71, 6,018-yard Deering Bay course in Coral Gables. Monday will feature 36 holes, while the final 18 will be played Tuesday. Monday's first round will tee off at 8 a.m. ET with continuous play following through the second round.
Eighty-nine golfers from 16 teams will be competing at Deering Bay, including five Top 60 teams - No. 11 Oklahoma State, No. 23 Baylor, No. 26 Campbell, No. 48 Texas State and No. 58 Minnesota. In addition to Georgetown, other teams competing include Boston College, Campbell, Daytona State, Florida Gulf Coast, Iowa, James Madison, Longwood, Mercer, Middle Tennessee and Oral Roberts.
The Georgetown lineup will include Junior Alice Choi (Whitestone, N.Y./Bayside) and Freshman Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch), along with senior co-captains Audrey Dalton (Portland, Ore./St. Mary) and Katie Skinner (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly) and Junior Stefanie Soelling (Everett, Wash./Everett).
"We're very excited to get this spring season started," Head Coach Katie Brophy said. "It's always fun to see how your work in the off-season pays off."
Georgetown posted two top-five finishes in four events during the fall season. Choi led the Hoyas during the fall season, posting a 77.54 stroke average, with a ninth place finish at the Lehigh Invitational.
