WASHINGTON - The Georgetown women's golf team continues its spring season this weekend, competing in the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational, being held in Orange Park, Florida, near Jacksonville.
Head Coach Katie Brophy and her team departed for Florida on Monday. Throughout the trip, members of the team will be providing updates for guhoyas.com. Today's is from sophomore Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic).
"Today was the second day of our Spring Break adventure in Jacksonville, Florida. We started the day with breakfast at the hotel, fueling up in anticipation for an exciting day at the beach. Mid-morning we packed into the van and headed to Jacksonville Beach.
"The entire team spent a couple of hours exploring the beach, looking at shells along the water, sitting in the sand, and taking in the incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean and the cloudless sky. After the beach, we ate lunch at one of the quaint restaurants along the boardwalk. We enjoyed our lunch outside, appreciating the opportunity to soak up the sun--a nice break from the cold winter of Washington.
"Following lunch, the team returned to the hotel and relaxed until dinner. Some girls decided to swim at the hotel pool while others rested in their rooms. Dinner was spent at Ted's Montana Grill; the day ended with a trip to Yobe for frozen yogurt.
"Tonight is our last night in the hotel--tomorrow we spend the rest of the trip with our host family. Excited for tomorrow's tour of TPC Sawgrass and qualifying round at the Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach! Stay tuned for posts from the rest of our trip here in Florida--Go Hoyas!"
