WASHINGTON - The Georgetown women's golf team continues its spring season this weekend, competing in the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational, being held in Orange Park, Florida, near Jacksonville.
Head Coach Katie Brophy and her team departed for Florida on Monday. Throughout the trip, members of the team will be providing updates for guhoyas.com. Today's is from sophomore Liz DiVincentis (Durham, Conn/Coginchaug Regional).
"This morning the Hoyas were fortunate to tour the Stadium Course and clubhouse at TPC Sawgrass. When we first got there, we spoke with the General Manager, Bill Hughes, who gave us some great motivation and inspiration going into our tournament.
"After we spoke with Bill, we went on our tour and learned about the history of TPC Sawgrass and its champions. We even got to go into the restricted locker room in which only past champions have lockers and are allowed to get ready for the Players Championship.
"Our generous tour guide also took us out onto the course, where we viewed the famous 17th hole and its island green. Approximately 120,000 balls per year are found in the water surrounding the green!
"After finishing a great morning at Sawgrass, the team got to play at Plantation Country Club, just down the road, to get ready for our tournament. We had a great time playing in the Sunshine State and the Hoyas are ready to go low this week!"
