WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's golf team is back in action this week, playing at the Spider Spring Invitational, being hosted by the University of Richmond at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Va. The par-72 course will play 6,042 yards during the event.
Teams will play the first two rounds - 36 holes - on Monday, March 26, with the final round scheduled for Tuesday, March 27.
The 15-team field includes host Richmond, Central Connecticut State, Georgetown, Hofstra, Lehigh, Mount St. Mary's, Robert Morris, Long Island, Rollins College, St. Francis, Sacred Heart, St. John's, Siena, Youngstown State and Methodist.
Georgetown is coming off a 14th place finish among 17 teams at last week's Pinehurst Spring Challenge. The Hoyas posted a 63-over par 927, with rounds of 24-over par 312 sandwiching the team's best score, a 15-over par 303 in the second round.
The lineup for the Blue & Gray will feature senior Eunae Jo (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood), who shot a 2-over par 74 in the final round of the Pinehurst Challenge last week. Jo finished in a tie for 56th place at 17-over par 233, along with junior Katie Skinner (Boise, Idaho/Bishop Kelly). Skinner posted consecutive scores of 5-over par 77 and closed out with a 7-over par 79.
Sophomore Alice Choi (Whitestone, N.Y./Bayside) was Georgetown's top finisher, tying for 42nd place at 13-over par 229. She has a 77.48 stroke average this year, including a 76.44 average this spring. Her best finish this season is a third place showing at the Hurricane Invitational.
Freshman Alex Douglas (Madison, Wis./Madison East) will compete as an individual.
