Oct. 29, 2017

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women’s golf team will close out its fall schedule this week, competing at the two-day, three-round USF Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of South Florida. Play begins on Monday with 36 holes at the par-71, 6,145-yard TPC Tampa Bay.

The Hoyas and the rest of the 13-team field will play the first and second rounds on Monday before wrapping up the tournament with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Georgetown will tee off at 8 a.m. in its first round on Monday and 9 a.m. on Tuesday, both in shotgun starts. A link to the live scoring can be found at www.GUHoyas.com.

The Blue & Gray will be going up against the host Bulls, as well as UAB, Towson, William & Mary, Lamar, FGCU, Stetson, Rollins, Lynn, Barry, McNeese State and Keiser.

Head Coach Kate Schanuel will send out the lineup of seniors Jacquelyn Eleey (Quincy, Mass./The Taft School) and Lauren Gros (Windermere, Fla./Windermere Prep), as well as three juniors - Pendleton Bogache (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Episcopal [Va.]), Christina Parsells (Bernardsville, N.J./Kent Place) and Alexa Popowitz (Boca Raton, Fla./St. Andrew’s).

Georgetown is coming off of an eighth-place finish in a strong field at the Edean Ihlanfedt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington. The Hoyas were fifth after the first two rounds, but slipped three spots with a final round of 25-over par. They finished just six strokes out of fourth place. Popowitz was GU’s top finisher, shooting a 5-over par 224 to tie for 13th place.

The Hoyas are looking to wrap up a successfun fall that has seen them win two of their first four tournaments. The Blue & Gray opened the year with a win at the Rutgers Invitational (Sept. 9-10) and followed that up two weeks later with a third-place showing at the Boston College Intercollegiate (Sept. 24-25). Led by an individual title by Eleey, the Hoyas won the Princeton Invitational (Sept. 30 – Oct. 1).
