WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad has already earned three rankings for the 2014 season. The Hoyas were selected No. 10 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Preseason Poll, No. 9 in the Brine Women's Media Poll and No. 9 by Lacrosse Magazine. The Blue & Gray will open the season on February 15 at home against Delaware.

Lacrosse Magazine released its preseason poll in early January and the Brine poll came out three weeks later with Georgetown No. 9 in both polls.

Last week, the Blue & Gray was selected to finish first in the BIG EAST Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Six Hoyas also earned spots on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.

The Hoyas lost nine players from last year's squad that returned the Blue & Gray to the NCAA Championship. Georgetown earned the sixth seed and a first round bye in the 2013 NCAA Championship. GU compiled a 13-6 overall record and a 6-2 mark in BIG EAST play. Georgetown returns four of its top five scorers along with three of four starting defenders in 2014.

Georgetown will start off 2014 hosting the University of Delaware Blue Hens at Multi-Sport Field on Feb. 15. Live stats and a new and improved webcast will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
