Washington, D.C. - Ashby Kaestner (Trappe, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) was named the BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week Monday after two outstanding games for the 3-0 Georgetown Hoyas. GU defeated No. 13 Johns Hopkins 11-6 on Wednesday and then beat No. 20 Denver 12-8 on Sunday afternoon. This is Kaestner's first honor of the season and the team's first award, last week her teammate Molly Ford (Reisterstown, Md./Notre Dame Academy) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll.

Kaestner started out the week with a goal and a game-high three assists in the victory over Johns Hopkins. In the game against Denver, the midfielder had a team-high five points with three goals and three assists. In the Denver game, Kaestner also had two ground balls and five draw controls.

Kaestner is one of Georgetown's top scorers and had a total of four goals and six assists on the week.

Last year, the Trappe, Md., became just the second sophomore in program history to earn First Team All-America honors. She was the team MVP and a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.

The Hoyas are currently ranked seventh in the country and will have the week off before hosting No. 1 Northwestern on Saturday at Multi-Sport Field. The game will be the kickoff event for the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation which will host its annual banquet and silent auction that evening. Both squads are involved in the honorary teammate program.
