Providence, R.I. ? Senior midfielder Michi Ellers (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) and junior attacker Sarah Oliphant (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) earned BIG EAST Player of the Week accolades for their outstanding performances in Georgetown?s 16-7 league win over Virginia Tech on Sunday, March 7.  Ellers shares the BIG EAST Co-Defender of the Week with Rutgers? Lyndsey Feldman, while Oliphant garnered the Co-Offensive Player of the Week, along with Notre Dame?s Meredith Simon.

Ellers, the 2004 BIG EAST Pre-Season Defender of the Year, was sensational on both sides of the field.  She posted eight caused turnovers, six ground balls and three draw controls.  The tri-captain also netted two goals against the Hokies.

Oliphant paced the Georgetown offense in the Conference victory.  She tallied a game-high six points on the strength of four goals and two assists.  Oliphant was also credited with two ground balls and one draw control.

The Hoyas, the 2003 BIG EAST Champions, are off to a 2-0 start for the 2004 season under the direction of Head Coach Kim Simons.  Georgetown, currently ranked fourth in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), notched a 16-8 win over #15 Cornell on February 28.
