WASHINGTON - Sophomore attacker Caroline Tarzian (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) was one of three female student-athletes added to the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List which was announced on Thursday by The Tewaaraton Foundation. Tarzian and the No. 11/8 Hoyas have started the season 5-1 most recently defeating Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday afternoon.
Already this season, Tarzian has been named twice to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. The attacker is currently leading the team in scoring with 23 points on 18 goals and eight assists. She is shooting 87.0 percent with 15 goals on 20 shots on goal and is 1-for-1 on free position shots.
She ranks seventh in the conference in goals (2.40 gpg), fifth in assists (1.60 apg) and fourth in points (4.00 ppg). Tarzian was a Second Team All-BIG EAST honoree a season ago and is a member of the United States Women's National Team pool.
She joins teammate senior midfielder Sophia Thomas (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Prep) on the watch list.
First presented in 2001, the Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse players in the United States. Endorsed by the Mohawk Nation Council of Elders and U.S. Lacrosse, the Tewaaraton Award symbolizes lacrosse's centuries-old roots in Native American heritage.
Georgetown will be back in action on Saturday as the squad travels to the No. 3/3 University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill for a 1 p.m., showdown.
