Hoyas to Play Notre Dame and Rutgers in BIG EAST Road Weekend

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad will face a pair of BIG EAST opponents on the road this weekend to open up conference play. The No. 8/6 Hoyas will battle No. 10/9 Notre Dame on Friday evening at 8 p.m., before traveling to Rutgers University on Sunday for a 2 p.m., matchup. Georgetown is currently 5-3 on the season opening the year with eight nonconference games which included six nationally-ranked opponents.

The Hoyas will play Notre Dame on Friday evening under the lights at Moose Krause Stadium in the Cartier Field complex. The Fighting Irish are 8-1 on the season with their lone loss coming against No. 1/1 Northwestern. UND enters the game on a seven-game win streak.

Georgetown is 9-3 all-time against the Fighting Irish, and split with them last season. In the regular season, the Hoyas fell 10-8 at Multi-Sport Field. However, in the BIG EAST Tournament held in South Bend, Ind., Georgetown rallied back from a 6-0 deficit to get the four overtime win and advance to the championship game.

Following the Notre Dame contest, the Hoyas will complete their four-game road swing with a game at Rutgers on Sunday at Yurcak Field. Rutgers is 3-6 on season and 0-1 in BIG EAST play, the squad is led by Brooke Cantwell who has 14 goals and three assists for 17 points so far this year. The Scarlet Knights will host No. 13/13 Loyola on Friday evening.

GU is 15-3 all-time versus the Scarlet Knights with the most recent meeting in March last season. In that contest at Multi-Sport Field, the Hoyas used seven-straight second half goals to get the 11-5 victory. Georgetown has won the last nine meetings.
