March 27, 2010

WASHINGTON - The No. 9 Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad returns to Multi-Sport Field on Sunday as the Hoyas will host the No. 19 Princeton University Tigers at 2 p.m. The game marks the fifth ranked opponent the Hoyas have faced this year just eight games into the season. The contest is scheduled to be televised on Verizon FiOS.

Georgetown is 3-4 on the season, but defeated Villanova on Friday evening 20-7 in GU's BIG EAST opener. The Hoyas have scored in double digits five times this year with 20 being GU's largest goal total of the season.

The Blue & Gray is led by senior Molly Ford (Reisterstown, Md./Notre Dame Prep) who has 25 goals and six assists on the year for 31 points. She led the Hoyas past Villanova with six goals and one assist. The Georgetown defense, while young, has a 68-59 advantage on opponents in caused turnovers and keeper senior Caitlin Formby (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) has 55 saves on the year.

Princeton is 3-4 and most recently posted a 15-5 win over Columbia. Junior Lizzy Drumm leads the team in scoring with 18 goals and five assists for 23 points. Senior Kristin Morrison has 19 points off of 11 goals and eight assists. Junior Erin Tochihara has started all seven games in goal for Princeton and has a 10.69 goals against average and a .474 save percentage.

Georgetown is 6-9 all-time against the Tigers. The Hoyas have won two of the last four meetings, but the last loss eliminated the Blue & Gray from the NCAA Tournament. In that game, GU fell 15-9 after a big run to open the second half. Ford and classmate Ashby Kaestner (Trappe, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) both had three goals in the loss.

The opening draw is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Multi-Sport Field. The game will be televised on Verizon FiOS. Additionally, a webcast and live stats will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
