Thomas Earns Spot on BIG EAST Honor Roll

WASHINGTON - Junior midfielder Sophia Thomas (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Prep) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll Monday after leading the No. 14/11 Georgetown University women's lacrosse team to a 2-0 week including a pair of BIG EAST Conference road victories. This is Thomas' second weekly honor and the fifth honor roll award for the Hoyas so far this season.
Thomas tallied eight points, including six goals in a 2-0 week. She scored five goals in a 19-11 win over Louisville and one goal along with one assist in a 22-4 win over Cincinnati. Thomas also had a caused turnover in the victory against the Bearcats.
She currently leads the squad in scoring with 30 goals and seven assists to her credit for 37 points. As well as ranking third in caused turnovers with 16.
This is the midfielder's fourth-career weekly honor from the BIG EAST although she was already the conference's player of the week. This year, Thomas received Preseason All-BIG EAST honors and last year she earned First Team All-BIG EAST along with BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year.
Georgetown will close out a three-game road trip on Saturday with a game at No. 2/2 Syracuse University. The opening draw is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., at the Carrier Dome. The game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network.
