No. 15/12 Hoyas Host No. 7/6 Notre Dame on Saturday

WASHINGTON - The No. 15/12 Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad (8-5, 4-2 BIG EAST) will host the No. 7/6 University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11-2, 4-2 BIG EAST) in a Saturday afternoon matchup at Multi-Sport Field. The opening draw is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network with Todd Harris and GU alum Sheehan Stanwick Burch calling the action.

Last weekend, the Hoyas fell to No. 2/2 Syracuse University, 22-11, at the Carrier Dome. It snapped a four-game win streak for the Blue & Gray who are currently tied for third in the conference with Notre Dame and Rutgers University.

Junior midfielder Sophia Thomas (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Prep) and freshman attacker Caroline Tarzian (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) are currently leading the team in scoring with 39 and 34 points, respectively. Junior midfielder Kelsi Bozel (Hunt Valley, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and junior attacker Dina Jackson (Potomac, Md./Bullis) are third and fourth with 32 and 31 points on the year.

Senior defender Kelly Barnes (St. David's, Pa./Radnor) has 32 ground balls and freshman defender Megan Marinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport) leads the squad with 21 caused turnovers. Bozel has notched 33 draw controls. Sophomore goalkeeper Barb Black (Ruxton, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) has tallied a squad-best 75 saves.

Junior goalie Ellie Hilling stopped 13 Vanderbilt shots and four Notre Dame players scored two or more goals as the Irish earned a thrilling 12-11 win over the No. 18 Commodores on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior attacker Maggie Tamasitis has a team-best 66 points with 18 goals and a squad-best 48 assists on the season. Sophomore midfielder Lindsay Powell leads the team with 37 goals, while junior attacker Jaimie Morrison has 39 points on 31 goals and eight assists. Hilling has appeared in 12 games with 106 saves to her credit.



Georgetown is 11-6 all-time against the Irish with a mark of 5-3 at home during the regular season. Last year, the Blue & Gray fell to Notre Dame twice. Once was a 13-10 in Indiana and the second was a 15-12 loss in the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals at Multi-Sport Field.

WINNERS Lacrosse and Breakout Lacrosse will both be participating in a game at halftime. It is also Girl Scout Day with a number of troops in attendance.
