Thomas Named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll

WASHINGTON - Sophomore midfielder Sophia Thomas (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Prep) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll Monday after leading the Hoyas past then-No. 6 Loyola and in a tough loss at Notre Dame this past week. This is Thomas' third nod to the honor roll this season.

The midfielder scored five goals on the week as Georgetown went 1-1. In the Hoyas' BIG EAST win over Loyola, who was previously undefeated, Thomas managed two goals as well as three ground balls and one draw control. Georgetown won the matchup, 15-13. In Saturday's tough 13-10 loss to Notre Dame, she had three goals, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and three draw controls.

Thomas is leading the Blue & Gray in goals with 33 to her credit this season. She ranks second in points with 41 on the year. Thomas also has a squad-high 35 ground balls and is third in draw controls with 21. She also has a team-best 25 caused turnovers.

Georgetown is 8-6 on the season and 6-1 in BIG EAST play. The Hoyas have faced seven nationally-ranked opponents and has clinched a berth in the BIG EAST Tournament. Georgetown is currently ranked No. 16 in the IWLCA Poll.
