WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women’s lacrosse seniors Jenny Schwalje (Setauket, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Maddy Fisher (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association's (IWLCA) 2017 Division I North-South Senior All-Star Game to be held on June 3. They join 42 fellow senior student-athletes in the event at Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md.
Schwalje was a Second Team All-BIG EAST honoree as a senior. The team captain led the squad in caused turnovers with 22 and was often charged with stopping the opposition’s top threat in the Hoyas’ zone defense. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on March 21.
Fisher started all 18 games for the Blue & Gray this past season. She tallied 110 saves and went 8-8 in the cage. The goalkeeper also had nine caused turnovers for the year.
Fisher ranks 22nd on the program’s all-time season saves listing with 110 this past season. She is also seventh in career saves with 345 over four years. She was a Second Team All-BIG EAST honoree as a sophomore and the team Rookie of the Year in 2014.
Eight players from the BIG EAST were named to the squads playing on both the North and South teams. The Division I teams will play the first game at 11:30 a.m., the Division II game will follow at 12:45 p.m., and the Division III teams will cap off the event with their game at 2 p.m. Admission for all three games is free of charge. The games will also be web-streamed live on IWLCA-tv.com.
