Nov. 30, 2017

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's lacrosse squad released its 2018 schedule on Thursday. The team will face three squads that finished 2017 ranked in the top 20 nationally as well as four NCAA Tournament qualifiers.

Georgetown will start off 2018 hosting Saint Joseph’s on Feb. 10. The Hoyas are 3-0 all-time against the Hawks, but haven’t met since a win in 1995.

Following the home opener, the Hoyas will play two contests on the road at Towson on Feb. 17, and at Drexel on Feb. 24. The Tigers qualified for the NCAA Tournament a season ago, GU is 10-11 all-time in the series after falling last year, 13-8. GU is 4-6 all-time against the Dragons with the last meeting coming in 1996.

The Blue & Gray will return to Cooper Field to begin a six-game homestand. The Hoyas will host Johns Hopkins on the Feb. 28, before playing Delaware on Mar. 3. This will be the first time in six seasons that the Hoyas and Blue Hens don’t meet in the season opener.

Penn will come to The District on Mar. 10 for a matchup. The Quakers finished the 2017 season ranked No. 12 in the nation and earned an NCAA Tournament berth. The Hoyas will then begin BIG EAST Conference play on Mar. 17 against Villanova.

Loyola will come to Cooper Field on Mar. 21, while Florida will be another BIG EAST matchup on Mar. 24. The Gators finished the 2017 season ranked No. 9 in the national polls and earned the league’s automatic NCAA Tournament bid. The contest against Florida will cap off the homestand for the Hoyas.

Georgetown’s final nonconference matchup of the season is slated for Mar. 28 as the Hoyas travel to College Park, Maryland to take on the defending national champion Terrapins.

The final seven contests of the season will all be in league play. The Blue & Gray will travel to Cincinnati (Mar. 31), Denver (Apr. 4), Vanderbilt (Apr. 14) and Temple (Apr. 28). Georgetown will host Butler (Apr. 7), Connecticut (Apr. 18) and Marquette (Apr. 21) at Cooper Field.
