Pugliese played field hockey for one year and participated in fencing for three years and crew for four years with the Greenwich Rowing Club. She was the captain of her fencing team for one year. She was the Most Valuable Coxswain in 2003 and 2004 for crew. She received the FCIAC Academic Athletic Award in 2005 for fencing. She was named an NCAA Big East Academic All-Star in 2007. She was on the High Honor Roll as well as the Headmaster's Honor Roll. Juliana is the daughter of Laura and Paul Pugliese. She attended Greenwich High School.
