Hoyas First Varsity Eight Finishes Fifth in Grand Finals at San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Georgetown University women's rowing first varsity eight made the Grand Finals of the SeaWorld Cal Cup and finished fifth in a time of 7:05.9 at the San Diego Crew Classic, Sunday morning on Mission Bay.
In preliminary race, the Women's Collegiate Varsity B Sea World Cal Cup, Georgetown's first varsity eight captured second place in a time of 7:00.85, just a second behind Sacramento State, to advance to the Grand Final with a crew of coxswain Victoria Stulgis, stroke Amanda Savage, Lindsey Bragg, Kayla McNeill, Erin Landy, Dasha Ryaboshapka, Erin Carter, Sydney LeGuyader and bow Haley Allen.
Also in action at the San Diego Crew Classic, was the Hoyas lightweight varsity eight, who rowed In the Women's Collegiate lightweight preliminary vitaminwater Cup. Georgetown's boat, consisting of coxswain Victoria Stulgis, stroke Clare Southern, Kayla McNeill, Erin Landy, Emma Cicotti, Vicki Stutz, Margi Emhof, Hannah Kittel and bow Kate Finnerty finished fifth in a time of 7:04.78.
The lightweight eight went on to compete in the viaminwater Cup final on Sunday. The Blue & Gray finished in the third place with a time of 7:20.39, behind Stanford and the University of Victoria.
The Hoyas second varsity eight finished fifth in the Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy race in a time of 7:10.96. GU, with a boat of coxswain Libby Hambleton, stroke Marissa Morgan, Angela Nelson, Carly McCaffrey, Isabel Aguirre-Kelly, Katherine Farrell, Kyla Cook, Emma Cicotti and bow Vicki Stutz finished behind Oklahoma and in front of Bates and Loyola.
They competed later on Saturday in the third level final. The Hoyas finished in the fifth place with a time of 7:02.95, between Tulsa and Southern Methodist University.
