Georgetown Women's Lightweight Eight Racing at IRA's this Weekend

Georgetown's lightweight eight looks to return to the podium after medaling at Eastern Sprints in early May

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's women's lightweight rowing team will conclude spring competition at the 111th Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif. this weekend.

Heats for the lightweight women's eight event are scheduled to take place at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1. Georgetown will race against Radcliffe and Wisconsin in their morning heat, with the top two advancing to grand finals on Sunday, May 2. Third place will move on to the afternoon repechage.

The Hoya lightweight eight most recently earned a bronze medal at Eastern Sprints on May 6, their first medal at the regatta since 2009. Georgetown looks to improve on their sixth place finish at IRA's last year.
