Women's Soccer Ties Villanova in Double Overtime

WASHINGTON, DC - The Hoyas (1-0-1) tied BIG EAST opponent Villanova (1-1-1) in double overtime today on North Kehoe Field.
The Hoyas came out quick with an unassisted goal by Elaina Filauro (Denville, NJ) in the 12th minute of play. The two teams were scoreless through the first half, giving the Hoyas a 1-0 lead going into the second.
The Hoya defense played tough through the second half as Villanova's offense put the pressure on them by taking 11 shots. Goalkeeper Jade Higgins (Island Park, NY) had three saves in the second half. With 27 seconds to go in the game, Megan Farmer scored a goal off Higgins with the help of Lindsey Finnegan tying the game and sending it into overtime.
The first overtime saw two shots taken by Georgetown and one by Villanova, none resulting in a goal. The game entered its second and final overtime where Georgetown had two shots on goal, both saved by Villanova goalkeeper Jillian Loyden. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Hoyas will take on Fairleigh Dickinson this Saturday, September 3 at 1 p.m. on North Kehoe Field.
