WASHINGTON - Junior forward Camille Trujillo (Albuquerque, N.M./St. Pius X) scored two goals in the first half and the No. 22-ranked Georgetown University women's soccer team made a 3-1 halftime lead hold up, as the Hoyas won their fourth-straight game to open the season at the Villanova Soccer Complex. Georgetown, ranked No. 22 in the country in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, improved to 4-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in BIG EAST play, while Villanova falls to 2-2-0 and 0-1-0 in league play. It was the third-straight win in the series for the Hoyas, who have won the last three games by a combined score of 10-1.

"I'm happy with the result, but I'm not happy with the performance," Georgetown Head Coach Dave Nolan said. "I thought the second half performance was very flat. I didn't think we came out with the right attitude in the second half. I give Villanova credit; they came to make a game of it. And when we had the chance to put the game away, we didn't show enough composure at the right time. In the first half, we were excellent. If we had been up four or five, it wouldn't have surprised me."

The Hoyas controlled play from the opening kick and took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when Trujillo found open space. She made a left-side run and junior midfielder Kelly D'Ambrisi (Trumbull, Conn./Lauralton Hall Academy), who was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, send a through ball past two Nova defenders. Trujillo picked up the ball near the top of the box on the left and as Villanova goalie Jamie Kranich came off her line, the junior blasted a shot that beat her to the right, giving the Hoyas a 1-0 lead at 18:16.

Four minutes later, Villanova scored the equalizer, ending a streak of more than 292 scoreless minutes for the Georgetown defense. Heidi Sabatura picked up a loose ball at midfield and sent a pass to Katie Ryan, who came into the box and lifted a shot that Georgetown senior goalie Jackie DesJardin (Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) blocked for the save. The deflection, however, bounced Ryan's way and she put it in at point-blank range to tie the game at 22:16.

The Hoyas wasted little time in taking the lead, with Trujillo leading the way. This time, it was junior midfielder Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) who found the Hoyas' leader in goals. Wells, a Hermann Trophy candidate and a preseason All-America candidate, sent a through ball from the center of the field to Trujillo who was moving forward from 30 yards out. Kranich came off her line and Trujillo sent a shot to the left that gave GU a 2-1 lead at 27:06.

Georgetown continued to press, with chances in the latter stages of the first half. After a throw-in during the 31st minute, a cross from senior Caitlin Durkee (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) resulted in a shot from D'Ambrisi on the right side of the box, but her shot went just high. Six minutes later, a shot from the left of the box for freshman Colleen Dinn (Kensington, Md./Holy Cross) was saved after a cross from Durkee.

The lead grew to 3-1 in the 37th minute when freshman Kaitlin Brenn (Bridgewater, N.J./Somerville) took a feed of a throw-in from junior Samantha Baker (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson) and booted the ball past Kranich for the score at 37:16.

Villanova came out strong in the second half and had several chances in the first 10 minutes of play, but Desjardin and the Hoya defense were able to keep the Wildcats in check.

Georgetown out-shot Villanova, 13-10, with the Hoyas taking eight shots on goal to the Wildcats' five. Both teams took four corner kicks.

The Hoyas return to action this weekend, hosting the D.C. Invitational at North Kehoe Field. Georgetown hosts local rival George Mason on Saturday, Sept. 4. Kickoff is slated for noon. The game can be seen live on the Georgetown Athletics website - www.guhoyas.com - with a webcast and live statistics available.

"It's always nice to win and it's nicer to do it against one of our bigger rivals on the road, that's difficult" Nolan said of the Villanova win. "I was just a bit disappointed in the second half and it was the first time this year I thought we've been that flat, but now we have to come back home and get back to it."
