WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's soccer senior Daphne Corboz (Green Brook, N.J./Watchung Hills) was one of 63 players selected to the 2014 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List on Wednesday.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in NCAA soccer presented annually to one male and one female athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

The lists are compiled by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees, based on their analysis of returning All-America and All-Region players, as well as any prominent newcomers.

This is the second-straight year that Corboz, who has trained with the U.S. U-23 team, has been selected to the preseason watch list.

Corboz is a two-time All-American. She was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year in 2013 and led the team with 27 points last season. Corboz, who was also a unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection and a preseason candidate for the Hermann Trophy, scored seven goals and had 13 assists. She missed the first five games of the season with an injury, but was among the most dominating players in the BIG EAST upon her return.

Corboz was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year in 2012 and was a First Team All-American in 2012. In just three years on the Hilltop, Corboz is the all-time leader in goals scored (35) and ranks second all-time in points scored (92).

This is the sixth time Head Coach Dave Nolan has had a player selected to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, as Ingrid Wells (C'11) was a candidate in 2008, 2010 and 2011, respectively, and Emily Menges (C'14) was a candidate in 2013.

Georgetown closed out the 2013 season with a 16-3-2 record, tying the school single-season record for wins in a season, set during the 2012 season when the Hoyas went 16-4-3. The Hoyas were selected to the play in the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four years and reached the second round. The team set a school record with 58 goals scored and was ranked among the top three in the country in scoring offense.

The Hoyas open the 2014 season up with a pair of exhibition games, first on Tuesday, Aug. 12 against George Mason at 5 p.m., and then on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. Both games will be played at Shaw Field.
