WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's soccer team will play its home opener on Friday, Aug. 29, hosting North Carolina State. The game coincides with College Colors Day, and the first 200 attendees wearing Georgetown Blue & Gray will receive a 2014 soccer schedule t-shirt. One lucky Georgetown student will win a $50 gift card to the Georgetown University bookstore by participating in a student raffle.
That will be the first of several promotions available to fans throughout the home season.
At the team's game on Sunday, Sept. 14 against George Washington (4 p.m.), the first 50 fans at the will receive a free pair of Georgetown Sunglasses.
The game on Sunday, Sept. 21 against Duquesne (1 p.m.) is an event for the kids! The team will be celebrating Hoya Kids Club Day as well as Girl Scout Day. All Hoya Kids Club members in attendance will receive free pizza before the game. All Girl Scouts in uniform will receive a Georgetown Scout Day Patch and may take the field with the Hoyas for the National Anthem. All participating Girl Scouts are asked to pre-register for this event by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Kids may also meet the team at the post-game autograph session.
There will be a pre-game skills clinic for kids eighth grade or below, hosted by members of the team and coaching staff on Sunday, Oct. 5 when the team plays Providence (1 p.m.). To register for the event, please email email@example.com. Pink rally towels will also be handed out to support the team as part of a `Pink Out Breast Cancer Awareness' promotion. There will also be a pre-game sustainability information fair outside at the game, presented by The Football Club and Georgetown's Office of Sustainability. Fans can stop by the fair to learn more about how the Hoyas are going green for the upcoming season.
When Georgetown hosts BIG EAST Conference rival Marquette on Sunday, Oct. 12 (1 p.m.), the team will celebrate Youth Soccer Day. All youth players in attendance will be able to take a penalty kick against Jack the Bulldog during halftime. Post-game, teams in attendance may take a team picture on the field.
As Homecoming weekend comes to a close on Sunday Oct., 26, Head Coach Dave Nolan and the women's soccer program will recognize the team's seniors with a special pre-game ceremony prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff against Villanova.
Georgetown women's soccer is also looking for youth teams made up of players in eighth grade or below to act as ball kids and to participate in youth scrimmages at halftime of the games. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
