WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior women's soccer player Mary Kroening (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after her performances last week as the Hoyas began BIG EAST Conference play.

This is the third time that Kroening has been recognized by the league this season as she was named the Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9 and was named to the honor roll on Sept. 16.

Georgetown scored three times in the first half and four times in the second half en route to a 7-1 win over Xavier on Sunday as the team improved to 9-0-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the BIG EAST Conference.

The Hoyas are ranked No. 10 in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and No. 9 in the latest poll from Soccer America.

The team is unbeaten in its first 11 games of the season, setting a new school record and breaking the mark of 10 set by the 2008 team. GU also extended its home unbeaten streak at Shaw Field to 18 games. The Blue & Gray have not lost at home since the 2011 season.

Kroening scored a goal off a header following a corner kick from junior midfielder Daphne Corboz (Green Brook, N.J./Watchung Hills) in the 7-1 win over Xavier on Sunday. She was also a key figure in limiting DePaul to only five shots during a 1-1 double overtime draw with the Blue Demons on Thursday.

Kroening has scored four goals this season and has helped to lead a defensive unit that has posted five shutouts and carries a 0.63 goals-against average.

In the win over Xavier, sophomore defender Marina Paul (Aliso Viejo, Calif./Laguna Beach) scored two goals and Corboz had three assists as six different Georgetown players scored goals and nine players had at least one point.

The Hoyas are back in action on Thursday, Oct. 3, visiting Butler for the first meeting between the teams. Kickoff in Indianapolis, Ind. is slated for 7 p.m.
