Oct. 19, 2009
Washington, D.C. - Georgetown women's soccer standout Sara Jordan (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) was recently named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's Women's College Team of the Week and the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She scored two goals in a win over Pittsburgh to become the all-time leading goal scorer in Hoya history. After breaking the 12-year old school record on Friday she picked up an assist in Sunday's win against West Virginia. This is the second weekly honor for Jordan this year.
Earlier this season, Jordan was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for scoring goals in league contests at Providence and UConn. Those goals gave her the all-time point record on the Hilltop as she passed Christina Brunner (1994-97) who had previously held two records; 26 career goals and 70 career points. Jordan passed Nicole DePalma (2001-04) earlier this season for the career-assists record and currently has 26 helpers for her career.
Jordan is currently third in the BIG EAST in points behind Villanova's Kaitlin Ryan and teammate Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair). Jordan also leads the team in goals and is fifth in the conference while she is tied for third in the conference with seven helpers. She trails her teammates, Wells and Samantha Baker (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson), and is tied with Kelly D'Ambrisi (Trumbull, Conn./Lauralton Hall Academy) atop the BIG EAST charts.
Also, for the first time this season the Georgetown University women's soccer team entered the Soccer America Top 25 at No. 22. They join No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 15 Rutgers and No. 18 Marquette as the other BIG EAST schools in the poll.
