Corboz Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women's soccer player Rachel Corboz (Green Brook, N.J./Pingry) was among 15 Division I women's soccer players selected as a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, recognizing the top player in the country.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual intercollegiate award administered by the United Soccer Coaches, and presented annually at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

Three men's finalists and three women's finalists will be named on December 8 at the conclusion of voting by NCAA Division I soccer coaches. The 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy banquet will be held at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 6, 2018 to formally announce this year's winners.

Corboz was the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honoree in 2017. She led the team with nine goals and 12 assists for 30 points on the season, and had seven multi-point performances as a senior. Corboz was the nation's active career leader in assists and assists per game as a senior, and ranked second in the country in assists and fourth in assists per game.

She led the country in total assists (16) in 2016, and now ranks second on GU's all-time career listing in assists (44) and points (112).

In her career, Corboz earned two career BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year awards and was a four-time All-BIG EAST honoree including three nods to the first team. She was a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-American and three-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region honoree and a 2016 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist.

Corboz earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team in 2016 and 2017, winning Most Outstanding Offensive Player as a senior. The team appeared in four-consecutive NCAA Tournaments including a run to the 2016 College Cup.

This is the seventh time in the last eight years that Georgetown has had a player selected as a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, as Ingrid Wells (C'11) was recgonized in 2010 and 2011 Emily Menges (C'14) was recognized in 2013 and Daphne Corboz (`C14) was recognized in 2012 and 2014.



Corboz is the lone player on the list from the BIG EAST Conference.
