PHILADELPHIA - The Georgetown University softball team (7-15) fell to Drexel University (5-6), 4-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Drexel Field. The Hoyas stranded seven runners on base, including four in scoring position in the loss.

Mackensey Carter (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) was tagged with the loss, allowing four runs, three earned on five hits over 6.0 innings, as the Hoyas defense made six errors. Carter led the Hoyas offense going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Drexel jumped out quickly on the Hoyas the first inning, putting five of their first six hitters on base, scoring three runs, as Botelho, Katy Harrington and Amanda Bachmann each drove in runs for the Dragons. Bachmann would drive in another Drexel run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to give the Dragons a 4-0 victory.

The Hoyas posed their fair share of threats through the course of the game. The Blue and Gray stranded two runners on base in the top of the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth inning Kelsie Hanson (Katy, Texas/Katy) drew a two-out walk and Carter followed with a single to centerfield, allowing Hanson to move to third base, before Katrina Gaudier worked her way out of the jam.

Gaudier earned the victory for the Dragons, allowing four hits over 6.0 shutout innings.

The Hoyas open its home schedule on Thursday, March 25 when they take on Rhode Island at 5 p.m. at Guy Mason Field.
