WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (19-31, 3-14 BIG EAST) fell 4-0 and 11-0 respectively in a doubleheader at No. 9 Louisville (46-2, 16-2 BIG EAST). The Hoyas and Cardinals conclude the series tomorrow afternoon in Louisville, Ky.In the first game Georgetown held Louisville to one run though three innings. The Hoyas defense caught two Louisville runners stealing in the second. Lauren O’Leary (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) retired the final two outs of the third inning with Louisville runners at second and third. Two Cardinals home runs in the fourth gave Louisville the 4-0 advantage. Elyse Graziano (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) and Taylor Koenig each went one-for-two, hitting singles in the third and sixth innings respectively. Sophia Gargicevich-Almeida (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King) rounded out Georgetown hitting going one-for-one pinch hitting for Hannah Slovacek (Austin, Texas/Westlake) in the seventh. Alexandria Anttila (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) and Rachel Nersesian (San Leandro, Calif./Bishop O’Dowd) both recorded walks in the first game. In the second game Louisville scored six runs in the third inning to take a commanding lead. The Cardinals followed up in the fourth with four runs. Fielding errors by the Hoyas gave the Cardinals five earned runs out of the ten scored in the third and fourth innings. Sophomore transfer Samantha Findling (Norcoss, Ga./Norcross) and freshman Sophia Gargicevich-Almeida recorded one hit each to record two total hits for the Blue & Gray. Mackensey Carter (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) pitched just over three innings, giving up four earned runs. Hannah Slovacek finished out the game on the mound. The BIG EAST series continues tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Ulmer Stadium in Louisville, Ky.
