WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team will face Arizona State on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT) in Tempe, Arizona. This will be the first non-tournament game for the Hoyas this season. After a 2-1 week, GU holds a 5-12 mark on the regular season.

Over the weekend, the Blue & Gray hosted five teams in the District Classic at Nationals Youth Academy in Washington, D.C., the official new playing field for the softball team. Georgetown lost its first game on Saturday to Columbia, 10-4, but came back in the next game against Howard, 9-1. On Sunday, the Hoyas dominated UMBC, 7-2.
Freshman Savannah Jones (San Rafael, Calif./Terra Linda High School) leads the team with five doubles and 10 RBIs. Jones has had seven runs and 18 hits this season. Sophomore Anna Brooks Pacha (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) is 3-5 in the circle. On Sunday, Pacha gave up five hits, two runs and struck out 11.
Arizona State (16-2) went 3-0 in the Devil Classic this past weekend. The Sun Devils defeated Coastal Carolina twice in the tournament, winning 4-2 against the Chanticleers in game one and shutting them out in in game two, 8-0. ASU also shut out New Mexico State the final game of the tournament, 3-0.
Morgan Howe leads the Sun Devils, hitting .396 at the plate, with three doubles, three home runs and 14 RBIs this season. Danielle Gibson comes close with six doubles and four home runs.
The Hoyas will stay in Arizona after Wednesday's game and head to Phoenix for the Grand Canyon University Invitational March 9-11. The squad will play four games over a three-day slate.
