WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (8-11) will compete in five games against Utah, Florida Gulf Coast, St. Francis (Pa.), Howard, and Stony Brook over three days in Ft. Myers, Fla.

The Hoyas dropped a doubleheader against UCF (15-7) on Wednesday in Orlando. Georgetown has struggled on offense, scoring 14 runs in the last seven games.

Shikara Lowe (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit) looks to reignite the Georgetown offense, after going just 1-for-5 against UCF. Lowe leads the Hoyas in offense this season, batting .417 (20-for-48) with three homeruns and 14 RBI.

Utah (15-3) is currently receiving votes in the USA Today and ESPN national polls. The Utes are on an eleven-game win streak. Utah is the first opponent for the Hoyas on Friday March 8 at 3:45 p.m.

Tournament host Florida Gulf Coast University (9-13) looks to get back in the win column after an up and down start to the season, winning one of two against Kennesaw State on Wednesday. Georgetown will play Florida Gulf Coast at 6 p.m. on Friday.

On Saturday, the Blue & Gray will face St. Francis (Pa.) (4-5) pitchers Megan Lane and Chelsea Rex who have posted ERA’s of 1.47 and 2.17 respectively. The game is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday March 10.

The Hoyas meet Howard (1-11) for the second time this season on Saturday afternoon. Georgetown won the first contest on February 18 at the USC-Upstate Tournament in Spartanburg, S.C., by a score of 5-0.

The final game of the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament will be against Stony Brook (5-3) on Sunday. Suzanne Karath leads the Sea Wolves with a batting average of .385 (10-for-26).
