WASHINGTON – Georgetown softball senior centerfielder Elyse Graziano (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday afternoon for her play in the Hoyas’ three-game sweep of the Villanova Wildcats on the opening weekend of BIG EAST play. The news came via a BIG EAST press release.
This is the second BIG EAST weekly honor that Graziano has received in her career. Last season as a junior, Graziano earned the award on Mon., March 18.
This past weekend Graziano went 7-for-11 at the plate with five runs scored, three walks and two stolen bases in the three-game sweep as she helped the Hoyas move back to .500 with a 12-12 overall record.
In addition to raising her batting average 61 points from .219 to .280 with a solid weekend at the plate, Graziano currently leads Georgetown in runs scored (17), stolen bases (9) and is tied with two others for a team-best 12 walks.
Among all BIG EAST student-athletes this season, Graziano ranks third in runs scored and second in stolen bases.
The Georgetown game against Towson tomorrow, Tues., March 25 has been postponed due to expected cold temperatures and forecasted rain/snow.
