WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (13-22, 3-2 BIG EAST) travels to Piscataway, N.J. today for a three game series with BIG EAST opponent Rutgers University (19-13, 3-3 BIG EAST) this weekend.

The series will be the only regular season meeting between Georgetown and Rutgers. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, with first pitch slated for 12:00 p.m. at the Rutgers Softball Complex. The second game of Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and the final game of the series will take place on Sunday, April 7 at 12:00 p.m.

The Hoyas are coming off of a midweek doubleheader with BIG EAST opponent Notre Dame, with the Fighting Irish taking both games on the day. The loses ended what was a program record eight game winning streak for Georgetown, in which five of the eight games were won at Guy Mason Field in Washington, D.C. Rutgers comes into the series on a three game winning streak, most recently with a 1-0 win over Hofstra in eight innings.

Junior Elyse Graziano (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Hear Academy) currently ranks 10th in the BIG EAST with a .354 batting average and sits in 5th with 13 stolen bases in 16 attempts. Graziano has also scored 13 runs and has 31 hits this season for the Blue & Gray.

Sophomore Lauren O'Leary (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) leads the Hoyas on the mound, earning nine of the 13 wins for Georgetown this season. O'Leary has won six of her last seven starts and has thrown 12 complete games in her 21 starts, striking out a total of 109 batters in nearly 115 innings pitched.

The Hoyas, as a team, hold the fifth best defensive fielding percentage in the BIG EAST at .958 and rank 4th in the conference with 92 walks at the plate. Georgetown is currently fifth in the BIG EAST with a 3-2 conference record. Rutgers sits behind the Hoyas in sixth with a conference record of 3-3.
