Seven Newcomers Join the Georgetown Softball Team

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team began the fall season on Saturday, September 23 with a doubleheader at Towson University. With eight contests to be played over four dates, Head Coach Pat Conlan and her staff will have the opportunity to see what the 2018 team will look like, in addition to what their seven newcomers will have to offer the Blue & Gray this upcoming season.

Arylene Campos
Freshman / Infield / 5-1
Nogales, Ariz. / Canyon Del Oro High School
Prior to Georgetown: Four-year starter for the Canyon Del Oro High School softball team, serving as team captain during her freshman year … Received the Dorado Award in 2014 and 2017 … Helped team to win the 2017 State Championship … Registered a .363 batting average … Off the field, was a member of the National Honor Society.

Savannah Jones
Freshman / Infield / 5-5
San Rafael, Calif. / Terra Linda High School
Prior to Georgetown: Four-year starter for the Terra Linda High School softball team, while serving as team captain during her sophomore, junior and senior years … Had a career .493 batting average … Two-time first team all-league selection … Spent all four years of high school playing for the Sorcerer club team … Four-year scholastic athlete recipient.

Isabelle Ortiz
Sophomore / Pitcher / 5-8
Tucson, Ariz. / Bonita Vista High School / Saint Mary’s College of California
Prior to Georgetown: Played as a freshman at Saint Mary’s College of California making nine appearances as a pitcher … Four-year starter for Bonita Vista High School, serving as team captain her senior season … In 2013, completed a no-hitter … All-academic first team senior year … Two time first team all-conference … In 2013, was selected as league pitcher of the year … Helped team win two league championship titles … Played for Team Mexicali and led team to win Mexicali Tournament Championship, while being selected as MVP … Spent all four years of high school playing for TNL Athletics club team, serving as the captain senior year … Off the field, was the high school salutatorian and a California Scholarship Federation Life Member.

Prior to Georgetown: Four-year starter for the St. Peter Marian High School softball team, while serving as team captain junior and senior years … Helped team become 2015 undefeated state champions … 2017 Ann-Ash Zelesky Award recipient … 2017 team MVP selection … Three-time Central Mass. Conference All-Star recipient … Selected as 2017 Worcester T&G All-Star … 2016 ESPN Boston Second Team All-State recipient … Had a career .571 batting average … Spent eight years playing for the Raiders Softball club team.

Prior to Georgetown: Four-year starter for the Immaculate Heart Academy softball team, serving as a team captain senior year … Three-time all-conference selection … Three-time New Jersey Softball All-County selection … Two-time NFCA All-East Third Baseman … 2016 MSG All-New Jersey Softball Team … Helped team win 2016 Bergen County New Jersey Championship … Led team to win three consecutive New Jersey Non-Public A State Championship from 2015-17 … Played three years on the New Jersey Heist club team, while serving as a captain in 2017 … Off the field, was a member of the National Honor Society.

London Diller
Freshman / Pitcher/First Base / 5-7
Abilene, Texas / George Ranch High School
Prior to Georgetown: Four-year starter for the George Ranch High School softball team … A three-time first team all-academic selection … A two-time first team all-district honoree … 2016 First Team All-County Fort Bend selection … Played three years on Diamond Sports Hotshots club team … Off the field, was president of Model UN, as well as a member of National Honor Society and student council.
