Lowe and Hansen Named Softball Captains

Oct. 11, 2012

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Softball Coach Pat Conlan has announced that seniors Shikara Lowe (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit) and Jordan Hansen (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) will serve as captains for the 2013 season.

"Having great leadership is the key to success," said Conlan. "Jordan and Shikara have continued to set standards with their work ethic, integrity and encouragement of teammates. They have earned and deserve this honor. I am proud to call them our captains."

Lowe, a catcher/outfielder, started in all 51 of Georgetown's games last year. She ranked sixth in the BIG EAST in on-base percentage at .447. She led the Hoyas in batting average, home runs, and runs batted in as well, hitting .285 with five home runs and 23 RBI. Lowe tied for the team lead with 20 runs.

Hansen, a catcher/third baseman, started 44 games for the Hoyas a season ago, with 10 hits in 65 at-bats.

GU finished 19-32 overall in 2012, and 3-15 in BIG EAST play. The 2013 season gets under way in February.
