Delaware Defeats Hoyas, 149-96
Lauren Moynihan (Fr., South Hadley, Mass./South Hadley) was the lone individual swimmer to win an event clocking in at 10:45.11 in the 1000 freestyle. GU also had several second-place performances by its student-athletes. Amanda Anderson (So., Denville, N.J./Morristown-Beard) followed Moynihan with a 10:56.73 finish in the 1000. She also nabbed second in the 500 freestyle in 5:10.17. Liz D'Auria (Fr., Newton, Mass./Newton South), Kristie Hunt (Fr., Glenview, Ill./New Trier), and Lauren Schmidt (So., Somerset, N.J./Bishop George Ahr) touched the wall in second in the 50 freestyle (25.99), 200 I.M. (2:16.37), and the 200 fly (2:16.75), respectively.
Divers Allison Linden (So., Darien, Conn./Darien) and Rene Pierpont (So., Roseville, Minn./Roseville) landed second-place honors in the one and three meter dives, respectively. Linden totaled 196.35, while Pierpont earned 194.55.
GU finished one-two in the 400 medley relay. Sophia Adkison (So., Novato, Calif./Novato), Meghan Welch (Sr., West Chazy, N.Y./Beekmantown), Caragh Moynihan (So., New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), and D'Auria tallied a 4:11.11 time while Francesca DiSilvio (Fr., Hingham, Mass./Hingham), Hunt, Schmidt, and Erin Lenahan (Fr., Western Springs, Ill./St. Ignatius College Prep) came in at 4:12.15. The team comprised of Christine Gibadlo (Sr., Middletown, N.J./Middletown), Lenahan, Moynihan, and Catherine Hayes (Fr., Charlottesville, Va./Ablemarle) came in at second-place in the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.66).
The Hoyas return to action on Wednesday, at 4:00 p.m. against George Mason at the Yates Field House.
