WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis team moved to 7-4 on the season with a 7-0 victory over the University of the District of Columbia on Wednesday at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex. The Blue & Gray won every match in straight sets for the victory.

In doubles play, the No. 1 pair of senior Lauren Greco (Oakmont, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and sophomore Kelly Comolli (Newburyport, Mass./Philips Exeter Academy) made quick work of their opponents with an 8-0 win. At No. 3, junior Alexandra Landers (Teaneck, N.J./Immaculate Heart) and junior Nora Montgomery (Winnetka, Ill./Loyola Academy) won, 8-2, while sophomore Madeline Jaeger (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) and freshman Sophie Panarese (Milton, Mass./Milton Academy) took the 8-1 decision as GU picked up the doubles point.

In singles play, junior Michelle Pratt (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) started it out with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6. She was followed by junior Vicky Sekely (Mississaga, Ontario/Lorne Park Secondary School) at No. 4 who managed the 6-0, 6-0 victory. Greco clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 1.

In the final three matches, Georgetown swept the Fire Birds. Sophomore Tina Tehrani (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) won at No. 2 in straight sets 6-0, 6-0, while No. 3 Comolli came away with the 6-0, 6-1 victory. Jaeger rounded out the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1.

Georgetown will host the University of Richmond Spiders next Wednesday in non-conference play at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
