Georgetown Women's Tennis Defeats Villanova, 5-2

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Georgetown University women's tennis team defeated Villanova, 5-2, as freshman Alex Sebia (Plains, Pa./Scranton Prep) clinched the Hoyas victory with a straight-set, 6-4, 6-1 win over Ashley Reed in the No. 6 singles match at the Army-Navy Country Club on Friday evening.
GU captured the team doubles point, as Sebia and freshman Elizabeth Sullivan (Potomac, Md./National Cathedral School) defeated Courtney Reed and Daniella Phillis in the No. 2 doubles match, 8-6. The freshmen pair of Caroline Kuehn (Birmingham, Ala./Mountain Brook) and Maxi Thiels (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) shutout Carla Erskine and Emily Urda, 8-0.
Junior Courtney Olsen (Englewood, Colo./Colorado Academy) and Thiels got the Hoyas off to a quick start in singles play, winning the second and fourth matches respectively in straight sets.
With a 3-0 lead, Sebia came off the court next, having defeated Ashley Reed, 6-4, 6-1 to clinch the match for the Hoyas. Senior Stephanie Cohen (Fayetteville, N.Y./DeWitt) followed with a 6-0, 7-6 win over Carla Erskine in the top singles match for the blue and gray's fifth win of the match.
