WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's tennis squad won its sixth-straight match on Tuesday with a 7-0 victory over the St. Francis University (Pa.) Red Flash at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex. The Hoyas have won six-consecutive home matches with a pair of BIG EAST Conference contests this weekend to close out the regular season. GU is currently 13-5 on the year.

In doubles play, the No. 2 pair of freshman Sophia Panarese (Milton, Mass./Milton Academy) and sophomore Madeline Jaeger (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) started it out with an 8-1 win. Sophomore Kelly Comolli (Newburyport, Mass./Philips Exeter Academy) and senior Lauren Greco (Oakmont, Pa./Shady Side Academy) clinched the point at No. 1 with an 8-2 victory. Rounding it out was the No. 3 pair of junior Michelle Pratt (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) and junior Alexandra Landers (Teaneck, N.J./Immaculate Heart) who defeated their opponents, 8-2.

In singles play, Georgetown won four of the six matches in straight sets. Comolli downed her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, before Greco came out on top with the 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1. Sophomore Tina Tehrani (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) clinched the match with the 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 which gave the Hoyas the decision before the Red Flash could score a singles point.

Jaeger won at No. 4 by a score of 6-1, 6-0 and Panarese had the 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6. Junior Nora Montgomery (Winnetka, Ill./Loyola Academy) also had a big win at No. 5 defeating her opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 which gave the Blue & Gray the 7-0 victory on the afternoon.

 

 

The Hoyas will be back in action this weekend to close out the regular season. The squad will host Syracuse University on Friday at 1 p.m., before battling Villanova University on Saturday at noon at the McDonough Outdoor Tennis Complex.
