Oct. 14, 2013
WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women’s tennis squad concluded play at the Navy Blue & Gold Invitational. Due to rain over the weekend in Annapolis, Md., the outdoor courts were not useable; therefore there was no consolation bracket for those who lost their first match in the singles draws.
Georgetown's Sophia Barnard defeated George Washington’s Stephanie Wei in the round of 32 of the A Flight Singles, 8-4. Hoya senior co-captain Kelly Comolli defeated Leah Pascarella of George Washington in the same flight, 8-1.
Georgetown freshman Madeline Foley beat Towson’s Nisha Shah in a C Flight Singles matchup, 8-6.
Two pairs of Hoyas won their first match in the A Flight Doubles. Senior co-captains Comolli and Madeline Jaeger defeated Towson’s Nani Lizana and Ariel Burke, 8-0, before dropping their next match to a pair from James Madison in the quarterfinals.
