Women?s Tennis Setback by Villanova

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Georgetown hosted its first home women?s tennis match of the 2004 season on the McDonough Arena outdoor courts on Saturday afternoon March 20th. GU fell in a hard fought match to the visiting Wildcats of Villanova by a 7-0 score.

Georgetown lost the team point in the doubles competition as Villanova won all three doubles matches.

In singles play, Hoya #1 Jordan Botjer (Miami, Fla./ Ransom Everglades) fell in three sets to Nova's Carlin, while freshman Nora Gardner (Greenwich, Conn./ Deerfield Academy (Mass.)) had a solid second set after struggling in the first set, falling 6-1,7-5 to VU's Rybacki.

The Hoyas next match will be at Virginia Tech next Saturday, March 27th. That Sunday Georgetown will play its second match of the weekend at Virginia Tech when they take on BIG EAST Conference rival Rutgers.
