Women’s Tennis Rained Out at Bucknell Invitational

This past weekend, Sept. 21-22, the Women’s Tennis Team participated in the Bucknell Invitational and brought home a few individual victories, despite the cancellation of the tournament due to weather.
Monisha Ghia (Bethlehem, Pa.) defeated Kate Bowler (Villanova) 6-3, 6-0 in Flight “C” Singles, while fellow teammate Stephanie Sutton (Arlington, Texas/(Sam Houston State)) also was victorious in Flight “C”, 6-3, 6-0. In Flight “B” Singles, Lara Madonia (Ramsey, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) won her match 6-4, 6-3 and teammate Jordan Botjer (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) defeated Yana Krugly (Marist) 6-0, 6-2. Flight “D” Singles featured Joy Watcharaumnuay winning her match 6-3, 6-0. However, teammate Meredith Bumpass (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Hawken School (Colgate)) lost 10-4 in a tiebreaker against Emily Hughes (Pitt.). And in the Flight “A” Singles, Liora Gelblum (Cupertina, Calif./Monta Vista) won her match with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 performance before falling 6-1, 7-5 to Jill Williams of Pitt. To add to the outstanding performances Trina Snow (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) came back from losing the second set 0-6, to defeat Amy Weissburg (Binghamton) 10-4 in a tiebreaker.
