Women's Tennis Set to Compete at ITA Regionals

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown women’s tennis team closes out their fall schedule at the ITA Regionals this weekend. The women’s ITA Regionals are hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. from Fri., Oct. 18 until Mon., Oct. 21.

Four Hoyas will be participating in the women’s tournament: freshman Sophia Barnard (Mill Neck, N.Y./Portledge School), senior co-captain Kelly Comolli (Newburyport, Mass./Philips Exeter Academy),  senior co-captain Madeline Jaeger (Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) and junior Sophie Panarese (Milton, Mass./Milton Academy).

Barnard and Jaeger will each play in the singles qualifiers, which begin on Fri., Oct. 18, before having a chance to enter into the singles main draw. Comolli and Panarese will both have matches in the singles main draw starting Sat., Oct. 19. 

Both singles qualifiers round of 32 matches will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Fri., Oct. 18. Jaeger will play against Nataliya Bredikhina of Maryland and Barnard will face Melissa Esnal Olguin of Old Dominion University in the qualifiers. If Jaeger and Barnard win their matchup, they will move on to the qualifiers singles round of 16 which starts the same day at noon.

Comolli will play Cindy Chala of VCU on Sat., Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. in the singles main draw. Chala is ranked No. 50 overall in singles. Panarese faces Marie Faure of the University of Virginia at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Barnard and Panarese will pair up for a doubles match at 3 p.m. on Friday against Anna Abadias and Brittany Boys of Richmond to have a chance to play on Sat., Oct. 19 at 9 a.m. against Maria Belaya and Jeltje Loomans of William & Mary, who have a first round bye in the doubles tournament. Overall, Barnard and Panarese are 3-2 as a pair this fall.



Comolli and Jaeger, who are 2-3 this fall as a pair, will face Kristina Hovsepyan and Cassandre Thebault of Maryland at 3 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 18 in their doubles match.  If they win, the will face the receiver of a first round bye, Maci Epstein and Caryssa Peretz of UVA on Sat., Oct. 19 at 10:30 a.m.

12 p.m. – Qualifying Singles Consolation Round of 16

9 a.m. – Doubles Main Draw Round of 32
10:30 a.m. – Doubles Main Draw Round of 32
1 p.m. – Singles Main Draw Round of 64

Sunday, Oct. 20 
9:30 a.m. – Doubles Main Draw Round of 16 
11 a.m. – Singles Main Draw Round of 32 
2 p.m. – Singles Main Draw Consolation Round of 32
2:30 p.m. – Singles Main Draw Round of 16

Monday, Oct. 21 
10 a.m. – Singles Main Draw Quarterfinals 
1:30 p.m. – Singles Main Draw Semifinals 
3 p.m. – Doubles Main Draw Quarterfinals
