Washington, D.C. - Sophomore Buky Bamigboye (Brentwood, Tenn./University School) completed the first day of action in the Heptathlon on Wednesday night at the Sea Ray Relays, hosted by the University of Tennessee. Bamigboye stands in fifth place overall, and third among collegians, with 3112 points.

The field of nine competitors battled through a rainy afternoon, which included a 90-minute weather delay, forced the high jump to be moved indoors and saw the last two events - the shot put and the 200m dash - completed in a steady rain.

Bamigboye began the afternoon with a fifth place finish in the 100m hurdles, running a season-best time of 14.50. She then tied for sixth in the high jump, clearing 5' 3.75" (1.62m) and was alone in sixth in the shot put with a distance of 33' 9.25" (10.29m). Bamigboye completed the afternoon with a new personal record in the 200m, posting an ECAC qualifying time of 24.90 to finish second in the field.

The final three events of the Heptathlon - long jump, javelin throw and 800m - are scheduled to begin on Thursday at 4 p.m.
