GU's Renee Tomlin Named to the Capital One Academic All-District 2 Women's Track & Field First Team

WASHINGTON - For the second-consecutive year, three-time All-American Renee Tomlin (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 2 Women's Track & Field First Team. The team, announced today, is voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) with nominees requiring accolades both on and off the track. Tomlin, a graduate student studying linguistics following her undergraduate studies in French, carries a 3.84 GPA while also boasting two BIG EAST individual titles from this outdoor season totaling seven. Tomlin ran the leadoff 1,200-meter leg of the winning Penn Relays distance medley relay squad this year and was part of two second-place teams at the 2011 Penn Relays (4x800, 4x1,500). She holds the school record in the women's outdoor 4x1,500-meter relay (17:11.80) and the women's outdoor distance medley relay (10:51.49) and is a four-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star. Tomlin will join five of her Hoyas as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa, for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Tomlin will compete in the women's 1,500-meter run along with fellow All-Americans Rachel Schneider (Dover, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas) and Madeline Chambers (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat).
