Georgetown Track & Field Puts 11 Student-Athletes on the 2011 Division I All-Academic Track & Field Team

WASHINGTON - Georgetown track & field had 11 student-athletes named to the 2011 Division I All-Academic Track & Field Team with five men and six women representing the Blue & Gray. To be named to the list, a student-athlete had to carry a 3.25 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and either rank in the top 96 of an indoor championship event or qualify for the preliminary rounds of the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
On the men's side, Georgetown tallied five student-athletes to the list, leading the BIG EAST along with Villanova, also touting five representatives. Dan Leyh, T.C. Lumbar, Theon O'Connor, Andrew Springer and Toby Ulm all took home honors with the quintet all qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind.
For the women, Lauren Borduin, Madeline Chambers, Becca DeLoache, Emily Jones, Katie McCafferty and Renee Tomlin all earned honors on the women's side. Borduin, Chambers and Tomlin all qualified for the women's 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind., with Chambers and Tomlin advancing to Des Moines, Iowa for the NCAA Championships and both earning All-America honors. DeLoache competed in the women's 800-meter run Bloomington while Jones competed in the 10,000-meter run and McCafferty earned All-America honors anchoring the women's distance medley relay at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
