Women Garner Ninth-Place Finish at Pre-NCAA Meet
The GU women's cross country team, ranked seventh in the nation, finished ninth at the 28th Memorial Cross Country Classic or Pre-NCAA Meet, held Saturday, October 14, at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. The Hoyas scored 360 points to claim the ninth spot. Third-ranked Brigham Young University won the "A" race with 117 points, besting #1 ranked Stanford, who took second with 151 points. Wisconsin was third with 189 points. Arizona State finished fourth with 241 points, edging out fifth-place Colorado with 278 points. There were 55 schools competing overall, including 16 of the nation's top 25 women's teams.
Senior Lorena Adams (Lakehurst, N.J./Manchester Township) was the top finisher for the Hoyas on the day. Adams covered the 6K course in 22:01.09, good for 41st place. Senior Autumn Fogg (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) turned in a mark of 22:07l to claim the 29th spot. Senior Emily Enstice (Potomac, Md./Georgetown Visitation) and freshman Amanda Pape (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South) were the next GU runners across the line. Enstice recorded 22:17.8 to take 65th place, while Pape posted 22:20.1 for 68th place. Senior Kate Crowley (Kennebunk, Maine/Phillips Academy) was the fifth Hoya to score. Crowley took 157th place with a time of 23:07.8.
Kara Wheeler of Colorado won the 6K race in 20:27.3.
