Three Hoya Student-Athletes To Attend NCAA Career in Sports Forum

May 6, 2014

WASHINGTON – Three Georgetown student-athletes have been selected to participate in the 2014 Career in Sports Forum. Junior Meaghan Bresnahan (Harleysville, Pa./Mount Saint Joseph) of women’s rowing, junior Brooke Simone (Radnor, Pa./Baldwin School) of field hockey and junior Dani White (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) from volleyball will be part of a group of 200 student-athletes from more than 1,100 NCAA member institutions at the NCAA Headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind., June 5-8.

The Career in Sports Forum (CSF) is an annual educational forum hosted by the NCAA that brings together 200 selected student-athletes for four days to learn and explore potential careers in sports, with the primary focus on intercollegiate athletics. The CSF is designed to assist student-athletes in charting their career paths, to give them the opportunity to network and to learn from current athletics professionals.

Bresnahan has been a real leader and one of the Hoyas most improved rowers in her junior season. She rows in the seventh seat, a seat of leadership in each boat, in GU’s second varsity eight and has been a big contributor in that boat's success this year. Bresnahan has helped turn around a program that, in her freshman year, won just one race to this year, which has seen the varsity eight and second varsity eight both only lose one race in the regular season.

Simone appeared in 14 games on defense for the Hoyas in 2013, making five starts. In her three seasons, Simone has appeared in 33 games, with 11 starts, for the Blue & Gray and has registered two shots.

White finished the 2013 volleyball campaign, in which she was selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, with 309 kills and a 2.76 kills per set average, both good for second on the Hoyas. She boasted a team-high .272 hitting percentage and was also first on the team with 110 total blocks, averaging .98 per set. White led Georgetown with a 3.50 points per set average, placing ninth among BIG EAST players in that category.
