White Unanimously Named to Preseason All-BIG EAST Squad
Aug 26, 2013
WASHINGTON - Georgetown junior Dani White has been named to the 2013 Preseason All-BIG EAST Volleyball Team, the conference announced Monday afternoon. After a stellar sophomore campaign as a middle blocker, White was unanimously chosen by conference coaches in anticipation of another solid year.
White, a Mission Viejo, Calif., native, was a force at the net for the Hoyas in 2012, amassing a team-best 107 blocks - 20 of which were solo - and an impressive 306 kills in 100 sets played. White will spearhead a resurgent and experienced Georgetown squad, looking to improve from last season.
With conference realignment shaking things up, newcomer Creighton has set itself apart as the favorite to win the conference crown, followed by mainstay Marquette. Xavier, Seton Hall and St. John's round out the top-five vote-getters, followed by Butler, Villanova, DePaul and Georgetown.
Creighton's Kelli Browning and Marquette's Elizabeth Koberstein were both named this season's Preseason Players of the Year.
White and the Hoyas will start their season August 30 as the Blue & Gray hit the road for the DC Challenge, taking on George Mason, American and Howard over the weekend.
